Emerging Direct to Consumer Markets

Thursday October 29th @ 11:00 AM ET

About This Panel

Impacts of COVID-19 on the food sector are among its most visible and important economic consequences of the pandemic. Effects driven by a sudden shift to food at home due to social distancing measures, as well as by risks of food shortages have led producers to connect directly with consumers via hyper-local markets.

Producers have done an incredible job in terms of implementing policies and procedures to make sure markets are as safe as possible. They’ve transformed markets into one of the safest places to shop for your groceries... But those efforts, such as expanded staff training, protective equipment, or new software for online ordering, "don’t come without cost," according to the Food & Environment Reporting Network.

Speakers include leaders from Edible South Florida, Bee Heaven Farm, Accursio and Sons Farms, Miami-Dade County Public Schools, South Dade Chamber of Commerce, The Beacon Council and Threefold Cafe.

This discussion is designed to connect producers with decision makers who can provide insights to grow their agribusinesses.
